Privacy Policy

Harveys Jewellers (ABN 12 148 029 517) is fully committed to protecting your privacy. This means that we do not distribute, rent or sell any of your personal information. We do not disclose your personal information to third parties other than as set out below.

The Privacy Policy set out how Harveys Jewellers will manage the personal information we collect about you. Where the Policy refers to our website, it refers to www.harveysjewellers.com.au.

1. COLLECTION AND USE

Harveys Jewellers may collect, and you may provide, personal information to Harveys Jewellers for a variety of reasons including to purchase products; to receive electronic direct marketing information; direct marketing information; to enter competitions; to facilitate our relationship with you by email and through our website and bricks and mortar store; and to report to you and deal with your complaints or returns. Harveys Jewellers collect information that is reasonably necessary for facilitating our relationship and providing you with our services.

When you provide personal information, such as your name, address, mobile phone number, email address and credit card information, you consent to Harveys Jewellers using or disclosing your personal information for the purpose specified to you at the time of collection, or for another purpose if:

-    You would reasonably expect us to use or disclose such information for that purpose (for example, you would reasonably expect us to disclose your contact details to Australia Post and/or freight agents if we have to deliver products, to service providers we use to manage our online store relationship with you, such as: our credit card service provider, Commonwealth Bank and PayPal, to debit and credit payment;

-    That other purpose is related to the purpose specified to you at the time of collection (for example, we will need to disclose your credit card details to a bank to credit your account in the case of a refund, we will need to disclose your email address to the company who deals with our electronic direct marketing, currently MailChimp or any subsequent provider); or

-    Where we are permitted or required by law, or it is in the public interest to do so, or is in the interests of public safety to do so.

Harveys Jewellers will not collect your information from a third party unless you have consented, or it may be implied that you consented to the collection at that time.

When you browse through our website, Harveys Jewellers will collect information on the efficiency and working of our website. This information includes the number of times a web page is accessed, the browser used, and paths taken when moving through the website. This information is used to improve and personalise your shopping experience. If you use our website you agree to personal information you provide being collected, and used in this way.

If you use any of our services, and Harveys Jewellers think you might benefit from using another service we offer, we may send you an email telling you about it.

If you use the social media buttons on our website (for example, Facebook, Pinterest etc.) your IP address may be collected and the site you visit may set a cookie to make sure the link functions properly. The use of these sites by you is out of Harveys Jewellers’ control and is governed by their own privacy policy. Please do not use these sites if you do not agree with your personal information being potentially accessed by these sites.

The Harveys Jewellers Facebook site and Pinterest sites are public websites. Any information you post on these sites may be read, viewed, collected or used, by anyone and Harveys Jewellers has no control over its use.

2. DIRECT MARKETING

Harveys Jewellers will communicate directly with you by email to promote our goods and services through our e-newsletter. We may collect this information from you direct or through our website, our stores or when you enter competitions.

You may easily request not to receive direct marketing material by selecting the option to unsubscribe to our e-newsletter or other email communications.

3. COOKIES

We use a cookie to track your “Shopping Bag” during your visit.

A cookie is a small piece of information that a server sends to a client. When you visit a website with cookie capabilities, its server sends certain information about you to your browser which is stored on your hard drive as a text file. At some later time (such a returning to the site the next day), the server retrieves the cookie. It’s a way for the server to remember things about you. Cookies are not usually evil in their purposes and one site’s cookies can not be accessed by another site.

You may experience trouble when using Harveys Jewellers website if you do not have cookies enabled. You can check your cookie setting in Internet Explorer via the Tools, Internet Options menu, and then the privacy tab. Our site requires a medium setting.  If you have your privacy settings set too high, or are blocking cookies you will not be able to create a Shopping Bag and we can not provide you with online services.

4. DISCLOSURE OVERSEAS

Harveys Jewellers will disclose your personal information to overseas companies for the purpose of sending you e-newsletters (MailChimp) and SMS notifications (Clickatell). The privacy policies for each company can be located on their respective websites:

5. SECURITY

We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is protected from misuse, interference and loss, as well as unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.

Our credit card processing vendor uses secure socket layer (SSL) technology.

However (and unfortunately) due to the nature of the internet, security of your personal information that you transfer to Harveys Jewellers over the internet cannot be guaranteed. To the extent available under the law, Harveys Jewellers shall not be responsible or liable for any loss of privacy, disclosure of information, harm, damage or loss that may result from you transmitting information to us in connection with this website.

6. ACCESS TO PERSONAL INFORMATION

Harveys Jewellers will take reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information which we collect, use or disclose is complete and up-to-date. You, or your authorised representative, can ask us to disclose the information we hold by contacting our Privacy Officer on the email below. We may require you to verify the authorisation, and charge a reasonable handling fee so that we can obtain the information you require.

We will take reasonable steps to correct personal information we hold if it is inaccurate or incomplete on your request without charge. Please contact our Privacy Officer. In most cases, you will be able to correct the information yourself online, for example when you go to the “Checkout” to purchase goods, or respond to competitions or offers.

We reserve the right to refuse your request for access or correct if we are legally entitled to do so.

7. REVISION OF PRIVACY POLICY

Harveys Jewellers reserves the right to change, modify, or revise this Privacy Policy in order to comply with any applicable laws or for any other reason at any time. You agree to check the Privacy Policy periodically to read about any changes, modifications, or revisions to the Policy, and each time you submit personal information or order online.

If Harveys Jewellers change the Policy we will post a notice on our website for one month and we will draw your attention to the changes by sending you an email if you have subscribed to our e-newsletter.

The variation will take on the date the notice is posted on the website. You may object to the changes within 20 days after they are posted on the website. If you do not agree to the changes and to Harveys Jewellers continuing to hold and use your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer (see below). If you notify us you object to the changes, Harveys Jewellers will not be able to provide you with our services in future and your personal information will be destroyed within reason.
